What Millennials expect from their first job

Company culture may need to accommodate with young people

One of the lagest cinema chain in the US is considering letting customers use their mobile phones during films - "mobile friendly movie theatre" news from last week shocked us as the cinema are known with "turn off mobile phone sounds" to be considerate of others.

The new CEO is the gigantic theatre chain, AMC, says "When you tell a 22-year-old to turn off the phone, don’t ruin the movie, they hear please cut off your left arm above the elbow".

Thus, the traditional company culture seems to try accommodating with Millennials' culture.

According to Adecco's recent survey, Millennials are eager to relocate, where more than half of the respondents expect to live in a few different cities throughout their careers, with 68% saying they would move to "get a well-paying job".

The survey also revealed that many entry-level Millennials plan to live at home for about 6 - 12 months. They plan to stay at home because it is a stable, financially-responsible housing option.

68% of the respondents have already held between one and four internships prior to graduation.

They try hard to gain experience, looking for internships and participate in extracurricular activities that will help prepare the enriched resume.

Up to 74% of Millennials feel that their colleges or universities did not properly prepare them for the workforce.

Millennials like to work for innovative companies with strong brand recognition, and 61% of respondents said that Facebook is the most used social media platform when researching the culture of potential employers.

The surveyed polled 1004 students aged between 18-24 in the US.
