What makes Singapore employees the most motivated among Asians

AchieveGlobal, a soft-skills training company, conducted an online survey of 1,067 employees across 10 Asian countries to find out how motivated they are at the office.

The survey, which included employees at different levels in organizations and across industries in varying sizes, showed Singapore workers scoring the highest.

Almost 60 per cent of them regarded themselves as "quite" or "very" motivated at work. The regional average was 55 per cent.

Ninety-seven per cent of the Singaporeans answered that the sharing of facts, data and knowledge is the key to motivating them. They feel “very” motivated when managers and supervisors shared information with them.

The study also found that the 71 per cent of respondents from companies with fewer than 1,000 employees indicated that their managers "usually" or "always" listen attentively compared to 60 per cent of respondents from firms with over 1,000 employees.

Regional director and solution architect at AchieveGlobal Singapore, Andrew Calvert, said: "The Singapore workforce is largely motivated by responsibility, autonomy and knowledge sharing."

It could contribute to improvements in our office teamwork and productivity if we keep these facts in mind.
